A young Irish sketch artist has been given the thumbs up by Hollywood star Lily Collins.

Emma Mullane (23) posted a sketch of the Love, Rosie star in her dreamy Zuhair Murad Golden Globes dress, but never expected a reply from the actress.

The daughter of former Genesis drummer and singer Phil Collins, Lily was nominated for a Golden Globe for best actress in American romcom drama Rules Don't Apply.

And when she replied "love this" to the illustrator's sketch, Emma said she was over the moon.

"I'm still in shock," Emma told the Herald.

"It is the first sketch I have done of Lily. I saw her dress and I love her as an actress. I put it up and then I got a call at 7am to say that she had commented on the sketch. I was amazed. I just wrote back saying 'thank you'.

"It's not something you expect them to see. They get so many notifications.

"It's the first time that someone has seen the sketches and wrote back," she added.

Emma, who has been sketching all her life, recently graduated with a degree in English and media and is now hoping to establish herself as an illustrator.

"I would love to get into illustrations full-time. That's the dream. At the moment, it's just part-time.

"I love doing it, and that's the main thing."

The Limerick native  is in the process of setting up her own website to show off her designs and other work, which include greeting cards.
