The Hot List: What we loved (and loathed) this week
Holly Shortall charts what got us talking for all the right and wrong reasons this week.
Love & Robots
This exciting Irish company consists of a team designers and techies who use 3D printing to create gorgeous jewellery and accessories for both men and women. Choose from their unique selection of necklaces, bracelets, and other personalised jewellery, customisable to your own style, choosing colours and fonts to suit your taste.
The brainchild of Irish illustrator Aoife Dooley, this hilarious parody account first came to our attention when a ‘Hun Diagram’ - illustrating exactly what a Dublin Hun is - went viral. Follow her on Facebook to keep up to date on all things Hun related, such as spicebags, Slimming World, and fellas.
Kilkenny Shop Irish Design Week
The iconic store’s annual week-long celebration of all things Irish design will run from October 5th to 11th. With big names in Irish retail such as Max Benjamin and Blaithin Ennis present in store to meet over the course of the week, it’s bound to be both informative and inspiring!
Neostrata Glycolic Peel
Heralded as ‘a facelift in a bottle’, this affordable treatment works on acne scars and open pores, while brightening and smoothing the skin. It works on décolletage and doubles as a hand cream, retailing for €54.95. Lucky for us, Dolledup.ie are running it at a special offer for €39.95.
Gaeilge Le Glam
Founded by four Irish primary school teachers, this new fashion and beauty blog is an incredibly refreshing concept, as it’s all written as gaeilge. Bringing the Irish language to a whole new audience is a stroke of genius! Educational, stylish and fun, and we’re expecting big things from these cailini!
Yes, the family we all love to hate are back on our Hot List, having found yet another way to extract money from their millions of fans. Unsurprisingly, Kylie bet Kim she’d have the most downloaded app (and won). Credit given where it’s due – they’re all visually stunning and we couldn’t help but download and pour over the gorgeous images.
Rebirth of Cool
With the return of popular TV show This is England, we thought we’d give a nod to the mod trend worn by the cast by putting this cool Temple Bar based store. With brands like Fred Perry and Ben Sherman under one roof, this store features quirky unique clothing and accessories for both men and women.
This savvy mum of five children, who are all under the age of eight (!) captivated the audience at the Irish Bloggers Conference in Cork last weekend with her talk on how to travel on a budget. Follow Corina’s travel and parenting tips on her sisters’ blog, (http://www.cherrysuedointhedo.com) to get the lowdown on how to travel around the world with no more than a score in your wallet.
Mrs Fernandez-Versini angered the masses this week when she spoke out about body-shaming, claiming the act itself should be illegal, but in the same breath, said curves were not to be celebrated. To be honest, Cheryl needs to acquire a large grip, considering it was Cheryl herself who admitted she was’ too skinny’ only a few weeks ago. The cheek of her!
The Word ‘Supermodel’
If ever there was a word that has been destroyed by overuse – it’s ‘supermodel’. Once used to describe the likes of Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell, it’s now being thrown around like a well-worn sliotar, with fresh faces like Gigi and Bella Hadid often referred to as ‘supermodels’. It’s a little early in their careers to give them the coveted title.
While they jet around different continents, rumours have been rife that David and Victoria’s marriage may be in trouble. Considering they are basically the most famous couple in the world and we’ve been obsessed with them for nigh on 20 years; this simply cannot happen. They are literal ‘marriage goals’ and we refuse to believe anything to the contrary.
