In one of her final state dinners at the White House, the mother-of-two pulled out all the stops as she and husband President Barack Obama hosted heads of state of five Nordic countries.

Michelle dazzled in an elegant off the shoulder gown by her go-to designer Naeem Khan. It's believed she chose an American designer to avoid ruffling any European feathers as she would have had to choose between a designer hailing from Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Iceland or Norway.

She first wore the New York-based designer in 2009 for her first State Dinner and put Khan on the mainstream fashion map.

President Obama agreed, saying his wife "looks great" on arrival, while she playfully responded: "He stepped on my dress."

Also bringing the glamour to Friday night's dinner was supermodel Miranda Kerr, who attended with her boyfriend, Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel. The former Victoria's Secret Angel opted for understated elegance with a pale pink gown with floral appliqué by Carolina Herrera.

Scandal actress Bellamy Young, who plays former First Lady Mellie Grant on Scandal, was in attendance alongside her husband Edward Weeks, as was Will Ferrell and wife Viveca Paulin; comedian Aziz Ansari and his mother Fatima; singers Janelle Monae and Jidenna Mobisson and actress Connie Britton, who stunned in a strapless black gown.

Demi Lovato performed.
