Elle Macpherson: 'I haven't been in touch with Holly Carpenter since she left Britain & Ireland's Next Top Model'

She may have guided them through the turbulent tasks and challenges of Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model but Elle Macpherson has admitted she hasn't kept in touch with former Irish contestants Holly Carpenter and Susan Loughnane.
The Australian supermodel (52) hosted the reality series from 2010 to 2013 and former Miss Ireland Holly appeared on the show in 2013, where she had a few onscreen run-ins with the host.
Elle lambasted Holly for wearing too much makeup and was reduced to tears at one point when Elle said she looked too much like a beauty queen.
But there's no bad blood between the two as Elle told us during a trip to Dublin that she's "happy" to see the 25-year-old model has moved on.
"Holly has done well, apparently," she told Independent.ie
"Good for her, I’m happy to see that."
Elle lived in London while she hosted the series but has since moved to Miami with her billionaire husband Jeffrey Soffer and while she might have been a mentor for dozens of girls on the reality show, she doesn't keep in touch with any of her former contestants.
"No, I haven’t (kept in touch with them). I’m not living in this part of the world so I don’t see them. When I was living in London I used to track what they do. It’s about having independence, it’s not about having huge success, I think independence is really important.,” she said.
And the Sports Illustrated cover girl dubbed "The Body" in her modelling heyday said she doesn't think a successful modelling career was the end goal for many of the contestants on the show.
"The concept of Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model is a journey and is a young girl’s journey to get to know herself better through the camera.
"They are really being pushed to the max in many ways. They certainly get a lot of potential from the show and if they’re smart they can parlay that into something else."
No stranger to Irish shores, Macpherson landed in Dublin on Thursday night to launch her latest lingerie range Elle Macpherson Body at Brown Thomas today.
She has been holed up in a suite at the five star Westbury Hotel and will jet back to her US base later today.
At the heart of the collection is “The Body”, a selection of modern, sport-inspired t-shirt bras and briefs in microfiber air tech with clean lines, new proportions and bold fashion colours.
It is available exclusively in The Lingerie Room of Brown Thomas and online at BrownThomas.com.
