Kate Middleton wasn't always the immaculately turned out royal topping international best dressed lists with couturiers around the world queuing up to dress her.

She wasn't exactly a fashion victim either, but before her entrance into the highest of high society, the Duchess of Cambridge followed all the hottest trends of the mid-noughties. And it was wonderful.

Kate Middleton's 2007 Cheltenham style is the gift that keeps on giving.

In one of her first public engagements in 2006, Kim opted for one of her favourite colour combinations - red and black.
In 2007, Kate had to be forcibly removed from these boots and sunglasses.
It would be some sight to see the Duchess of Cambridge rowing on the River Thames these days a la July 2007.
In September 2008, her now infamous roller disco outfit has gone down in history. Rather than rest on her laurels after splitting with Prince William, Kate spectacularly showed him what he was missing.
With the exception of those sunglasses, her ski attire isn't too unlike her 2016 snow gear.

You'd be hard pressed these days to find Prince Harry (R), Prince William (C) and Kate Middleton (R) gathering around, wearing baseball caps,with Harry dutifully holding a pint in his hand, like they did at the Beaufort Polo Club in 2008.
Or seeing Kate, in her trusty brown boots, mingling with the masses at a concert in Hyde Park.
As their relationship heated up, Kate's personal style was apparent quite early.
Back to her elegant best, Kate's periwinkle-blue and white ensemble was wedding perfection in 2009.
Kate, and her trademark bouncy blowdry, cut a casual look watching the polo in 2009.

Accompanied by Prince William, Kate (and her trust black tights which the Queen has supposedly banned from her wardrobe now), she begins to make her mark after announcing their engagement in 2010.
She traded in her black tights for an all brown look, which she would adopt for years.

Before their April 2011 wedding, Kate was still perfecting her royal stance. But her style was down to a T.
Except for her hair.
Her Burberry trenchcoat proved to be another sell-out during a Belfast appearance in march 2011.
Again, with the hair.
And finally, on April 29, 2011, Kate Middleton became the Duchess of Cambridge and the next chapter of her style story began.
