Style Jury: Weekend Fashion at Cannes Film Festival
This weekend, La Croisette hosted premieres of Saint Laurent, The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, The Homesman, and How To Train Your Dragon 2.
Leading ladies donned classic styles and vivid hues, here are the weekend’s best dressed stars.
Red heads around the world took note when eternally elegant actress Jessica Chastain stepped out in this royal blue gown by Atelier Versace. The stunning colour was the perfect match for Jessica’s hair and alabaster skin tone. Simple jewelled earrings, screen siren waves and a classic red lip were the only accessories needed.
Eva Longoria is the poster woman for a glamorous fishtail gown. Wearing her signature style, she wowed in a custom made Gabriela Cadena gown. Eva’s turn in this strapless pearl-detailed number is sure to put its Latin-American designer on speed dial for Hollywood stylists when Award season comes around.
For the premiere of fashion’s latest biopic ‘Saint Laurent’ Salma Hayek fittingly wore a striking fuchsia dress from the eponymous fashion house. Salma seems to be the only one to wear Saint Laurent on this occasion, though it is hardly surprising seeing as her husband’s luxury conglomerate owns the label. Salma completed her outfit with Boucheron jewels, a studded Saint Laurent clutch and raspberry lipstick.
Hilary Swank looked like a Million Dollar Lady in a fitted silk Atelier Versace creation at the premiere of The Homesman. The fitted bodice, one shoulder detailing and slight train clung to Hilary’s impeccable figure. Eye catching blue Chopard earrings were an unexpected addition.
Indian actress Freida Pinto had not one but two sartorial home runs this weekend. First, at the Saint Laurent premiere Freida stunned in a custom made Michael Kors gown with feather and sequin detailing. This dress epitomised Freida’s feminine and glamorous signature style.
On her next outing, Freida showed her versatility in an Oscar de la Renta Fall 2014 gown. Swapping the glossy waves and red lip for a sleek, low ponytail and a sultry eye, she let the incredibly detailed dress make a statement. Bronze pointed Jimmy Choo court shoes finished off her look.
Naomi Watts is always an advocate for Marchesa on the red carpet at Cannes. At the How To Train Your Dragon 2 premiere, Naomi looked like a modern day Greek goddess in a custom made silk chiffon gown with an embellished sweetheart neckline and graceful off the shoulder detailing. A diamond necklace from Bulgari completed this beautiful outfit.
