Style dilemma: Work the underwear trend

I've noticed there is a huge trend this season for underwear worn as outerwear by loads of celebrities. I love this trend but I'm not a stick insect celebrity, I'm a curvy size 12 woman! Can someone with a normal figure pull off this look?
Of course you can work this look! In fact, having curves means you will fill out corsets and fitted structured dresses, making them look more va-va voom!
This trend isn't about popping out for the night in your bra and knickers. You can make this trend subtle, classy, wearable and age appropriate.
Invest in a stunningly tailored suit with a jacket nipped in at the waist and a sexy pencil-cut skirt; slip a sculpted corset top underneath so your lingerie plays peek-a-boo. A silky camisole can be equally effective and look more casual.
For a sophisticated take, wear a sheer silk blouse with a cami showing through. Curvier women also look wonderful in a sculpted corset-style slip dress in the style of Dolce & Gabanna.
Remember to never expose too much flesh and keep your colour palette soft. Roland Mouret has a sheer body-sculpting slip dress available from Costume, Castle Market, D2. Stella McCarthy is the queen of working the lingerie look. Savida in Dunnes has some great pieces too.
