Q: I'm quite short and am always looking for ways to appear taller -- well, as tall as possible really. Any advice or trends I should take note of this season?
Roisin, 26, Tipperary
A: For shorter women, it's really important to be very selective with the styles you buy into. Many of the floaty styles that we're seeing a lot of on the high street at the moment can completely swamp a smaller frame, in turn making you appear even smaller.
When it comes to appearing taller, it's all about structure. High-waisted trousers are great for creating the illusion of longer legs, particularly when worn by petite frames, and 1970s-style flared trousers featured strongly in the collections of Céline and Marc Jacobs.
Warehouse and Savida at Dunnes Stores have both really picked up on this trend and are offering good price points (€60 and €40 respectively).
A good tip is to get the trousers an inch or two longer than your usual length and wear with super-high heels. This will really give the impression of making you appear taller and leaner.
Whatever you do, avoid cropped trousers that rest on the calf as this cuts your already short legs in half.
