Style: Days devoted to 'you time'
Loungewear - the word says it all, according to designer Carolyn Donnelly, whose new leisurewear collection tempts you to get out of the civvies
"For me, it typifies that moment when I get home, take off the work clothes, get into the comfy clothes and immediately relax. It helps me to skip back down the stairs ready for anything."
Designer Carolyn Donnelly is so right - we've all done it, dashed home, got out of the heels, swapped suit for jammies and curled up on couch. Loungewear has become an increasingly big part of shopping for the fashion-conscious. Instagram and Pinterest are full of fabulous photos of girls curled up with their favourite jammies, book and hot chocolate, says Carolyn. "Loungewear is the clear divide between work and total relaxation, and as we all discover the need for this important balance, loungewear has become a big part of our down time.
"A favourite slogan of the loungewear set is 'pyjamas all day' and it spells a day devoted to you.
"I had noticed a lack of really pretty, functional pyjamas available in Irish stores, and the idea of a Carolyn Donnelly collection fitted nicely with the mood and feel of my Eclectic homewares range and its bedding. It completes the picture for me," says Carolyn, whose collection is available at Dunnes Stores.
Bringing it all back home, literally, she shot the new soft blue pieces at her scenic home in Howth, moving from her deck overlooking the sea to her contemporary kitchen with its attractive herringbone wooden floor saved from Switzers many years ago. "For next Christmas we are expanding the collection further to include slippers and accessories," Carolyn says.
