Something for the guys: A different look for each day of the week
Seven looks — a different one for every day of the week.
Something for the guys at Dundrum
We’ve all heard the jokes – Dundrum, a haven for teens and yummy mummies and their armies of buggies but lately there’s been a welcome shift in focus from the South Dublin shopping centre, with a whole host of new stores and brands aimed at the guys.
New store openings and brands at Dundrum offers a lot for sartorial sirs these days and for their menswear edition, Weekend magazine commissioned a shoot to explore how to achieve different looks ....and we came up with a different one for each day of the week.
Top stylist Brian Conway dressed international model, Dan
Murphy from the U.S., who flew in for our shoot with Aaron Hurley at the Daylight Forty Four Studio. The sharp looks included a suit designed by Weekend columnist, Darren Kennedy, who is on a roll with his super slick collaboration with Louis Copeland.
Brian's brief was to explore relaxed weekend menswear, 'smart casual' and sharp, sophisticated tailoring lots of great accessories. Brian drilled down to pieces at all price points and from a wide variety of stores.
The days of dressing top to toe in one brand are a thing of the past so Brian mixed it up and included the 'shoe of the moment', the double strap 'monk' style.
On the news front, the long anticipated opening of Ireland's biggest branch of Zara takes place at Dundrum Town Centre next Thursday and the supersized store will have an increased menswear offer.
Also on Thursday, H&M will launch their Balmain collaboration with a strong menswear element.
Massimo Dutti have significantly expanded their range of menswear at their store and all American favourite, Tommy Hilfiger have a fresh new look and a new home on Level 1 in DTC.
Brands used in the shoot and found at Dundrum Town Centre included Harvey Nichols, Massimo Dutti, Best Menswear, Tommy Hilfiger, Gant, Hugo Boss, H&M, Louis Copeland,Timberland and Aldo.
For Weekend’s menswear special, we commissioned a shoot exploring the art of layering and how to mix it up, with eminently stylish labels we found at Dundrum Town Centre.
