So over: Nostalgie pour la boom
Get over it. We refuse to attend one more dinner party where people sentimentalise over how good they had things back in the boom time.
It’s time to get over the notion that we were reared to expect to own at least one foreign home, take holidays every second week, and enjoy a closet full of Louboutins and designer bags. We need to break this syndrome of post-traumatic stress and give up reliving the boom years.
They’re not coming back. And frankly, if you try not to be so black and white about life right now, you’ll find that it’s not actually so bad. Unless you want to stay in the camp of people like Claudine Keane, left, who continues to dress as if it’s 2003. Those times were great, yes, but maybe we need to accept that they were a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It’s time to move on. We’re not talking about embracing austerity, but a severe reality check, maybe?
