Who is a style queen and who should be taken away by the fashion police this week?

Best dressed: Rachel McAdams

Now this is how to pull off fashion sparkle!

The stunning actress poured herself into a figure-hugging Marchesa dress for the premiere of her new movie Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows this week.

But it doesn't take a sharp detective to get to the bottom of this fashion triumph.

With a face and body like Rachel's, the actress rarely gets it wrong when it's time to shine in front of the camera.

Her hair loosely swept back combined with very muted make-up tones, and finished off with Louboutin heels, there really is no where this look can go wrong.

Then to top it all off, she adds some beautiful Jacqueline Nerguizian jewellry.

So, for all the fashionistas out there this party season ( and a certain singer) -- how should you wear sequins? Why it's elementary, my dear Fergie.

Worst dressed: Fergie

Tis the season to be jolly --and sparkly! Or so it would seem looking at the stars on the red carpet this week.

Now it's all very well getting into the festive spirit -- after all, who isn't partial to some sequins this time of year? But, just the right shiny dress is essential to avoid looking like a giant Christmas decoration. Unless, of course, that is precisely the look you are going for.

Which must explain Fergie's choice earlier this week at the Trevor Project benefit in LA.

The singer's shocking pairing of shiny and feathers is so unflattering, a decoration wouldn't be seen dead in it!

But it gets worse. In an attempt to let the dress take centre stage (as if anything could distract from the blinding shambles) the Black Eyed Pea singer tied her hair back off her face and ended up giving herself a Croydon facelift!

Fergie, I gotta feeling I know what you'll be asking Santa for this year -- a new stylist!
