Red Carpet Week: Best and worst dressed
Who is a style queen and who should be taken away by the fashion police this week?
Best dressed: Rooney Mara
OK. We admit it. We were wrong. Less is not always more, (although we still stand by our slating of booby-Wags and knickers-on-show catwalk models).
But it seems we have finally found a real case of 'more is more'.
Actress Rooney Mara took the plunge and braved a slashed-to-the-belly plum J Mendel dress at the Costumes Designer Guild Awards this week, flashing a lot of flesh. Lucky for her -- and the onlookers -- that is some glowing skin she's flaunting, with not even a hint of fake tan. So why not show it all off?
The girl with the purple dress certainly balanced out the flesh-show by keeping everything else very simple -- slicked back hair, nude heels, no jewellery and plum lips.
Some people just have all the luck -- all this style and she gets to work with Daniel Craig?
Now that's what we call having it all...
Worst dressed: Alexandra Burke
Just as we're getting over our style-envy of Rooney Mara, along comes Alexandra Burke to bring us back to reality and make us feel better about ourselves again as we realise not everyone in celeb-land has it so great.
It's amazing what one dodgy dress on the red carpet can do for our own confidence -- and Alexandra, this is certainly one dodgy dress!
The X Factor winner strutted her stuff at the Brits this week looking like she was more prepared for battle than an awards night.
We honestly don't know what was going through her head when she opted for this Roman-armour topped gown. And no amount of flowing blue material can distract from the studded top half, despite its best efforts.
The singer may have been going for a mighty Roman look, but this display just screams Greek tragedy! And for that Alexandra, we mere mortals thank you...
