STRAIGHT-talking fashion consultant Mary Portas is heading to Dublin – and she's bringing her 'dressing checklist' with her.

The 'Mary Queen of Shops' presenter developed her clothing and accessories range in 2011 and it arrives in Ireland for the first time next month at House of Fraser in Dublin's Dundrum Town Centre.

When it comes to Portas herself, she has a series of rules which include "avoid dressing like a teenager" along with "keep it low maintenance" and "don't buy rubbish".

"I'm not imposing these rules – because rules are for children. However, with such guidelines in mind, no woman should ever find herself staring blankly at her clothing rail or suffer a 'mutton' moment," she said.

In line with the rules, her collection includes a 'no-brainer' piece each season.

For Spring/Summer 2013, this is a modern, super-flattering shirt-tunic dress with sleeves and a monochrome algae print.

Her key pieces come printed or plain, and her philosophy for a three-part fashion cocktail is "one part simple chic, one part edge and then decorate".

"Dressing isn't rocket science, but getting it right will fuel your daily lift-off," said Portas, whose Armery lace sleeves from Charnos have been on sale in Irish stores for a while.

House of Fraser yesterday showcased labels such as Pied a Terre, Untold, Episode, Linea and Biba. Also making an appearance was Dublin designer Helen McAlinden's capsule wardrobe.
