Penney Pinching: Penneys a/w 2011
Don't you just love beating your friends to a bargain? That's why I'm delighted this week to point you in the direction of some cool buys coming on stream from Penneys, which has really cranked-up production values on the new autumn/ winter 2011 collection.
After a comprehensive root through the store's forthcoming rails, I found everything from college-girl basics to working-girl chic and party-girl glam.
But tempting as exclusives are, giving the heads-up on seasonal gems is always going to be a bittersweet experience, because you'll want them NOW. And, more often than not, those lust-after pieces aren't going to be in for a few weeks.
So, read the captions carefully, mark up your diary and be ready to pounce when the stock hits the rails. In the meantime, just plan around the fashion intelligence we bring to you this week.
The reaction to the Oasis coat in our vintage spread last week was unbelievable, and the latest information is that it will hit shops here, along with the sequinned wrap dress, in November.
You'll have to wait until November to buy Penneys' fringed tassel cardi (€22) too, but, in the meantime, work that rock-chick vibe with the lace top -- and remember that the metallic jeans and snake box clutch are due in next month.
Top of my checklist is the fabulous gold metallic, sunray pleated skirt (€15). It's a core buy for the party season. Watch out for the gold-foil jacket (€23), which consolidates the look.
Anyone with a passion for faux fur and rich autumnal tones won't be disappointed either, as they crop up right across the separates department.
