IN a sea of international fashion brands, it's refreshing when the two that stand out in a catwalk show are home grown.

It was a case of lots of love for Orla and Amy yesterday as household name Orla Kiely and Ireland's favourite girl-next-door, Amy Huberman, made hearts beat faster at the Arnotts Spring/Summer 2014 fashion preview at the Smock Alley Theatre in Dublin.

Mother-of-two Orla Kiely is the Dublin-born designer with the Midas touch. Kiely's show at London Fashion Week was all about the safari-girl look but the looks chosen by the Arnotts' buyer were 'ladylike chic'.

The heart-print tea dress (€449) was pure Kate Middleton, while a knit dress with bubble-effect knit skirt looked almost like a Missoni, but in Kiely's hands it took on a distinctive twist

Meanwhile, new mum Amy Huberman boasts skills that run from acting to novel writer, hilarious tweeter to surprisingly good shoe designer.

Amy's latest range of girly shoes for the Bourbon label, wholesaled out of Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan, by the McArdle brothers are super glamorous, and super high too.

At €90, they're considerably cheaper than some of the designer brands finding favour on the high street but clearly the petite actress believes in telling her footwear story at a more affordable price point.
