Office to party: How to transform your outfit from day to night

With the party season practically upon us, though it’s tempting to dash out and buy handfuls of outfits to see us through those work lunches, office parties and nights out, our budget and time usually doesn’t allow.
Well ladies, all is not lost. With a bit of savvy shopping and a focus on accessories, your casual daytime look can be transformed into evening glamour in a flash.
First, pick your outfit. Choose something that is statement but versatile. A little black dress with a bit of detailing such as a quirky belt, embellishment or a sleek structured shape. It needs to be appropriate in both situations.
For your daytime look, keep the outfit fun and fresh but professional.
Go for a pair of kitten heels or a classic pump. Choosing tights will keep the style demure if your dress/skirt is on the shorter side! Add in an oversized bag, subtle jewellery and a camel coat and you’re done.
Now for the fun part: It’s 6pm and you’re ready to hit the tiles but there’s no time to go home and change. Easy, just switch your accessories. Out with the boring work stuff and in with some Christmas glam!
First, remove the flats and tights and swap for either bare legs or lace patterned tights. Add in a pair of skyscraping heels or shoe boots and already your daytime outfit will begin to look more glam.
Trade your oversized bag for a metallic sequin embellished clutch and whack on a statement cocktail ring with a bold pop of colour that isn’t already featured in your outfit. Then mix in a few bracelets and a dazzling pair of earrings. If time is of the essence, keep your makeup neutral and minimal but add a slick of hot red or pink lippie which will look incredible against the little black dress and create that perfect finishing touch.
Tips for taking a look from day To night:
Always focus on using accessories as a way to adapt the look-this can instantly transform a classic dress into an outfit that looks like it’s just stepped off the catwalk
Keep the main outfit versatile and comfortable for all-day-to-night wearability
Spend minimum pennies on trend inspired accessories. Splurge on those investment pieces that defy trends and can be worked into various looks season after season.
