Monroe's 'Seven-Year Itch' dress raises $4.6m

MARILYN Monroe's ivory dress from 'The Seven-Year Itch', famous for its encounter with a gust of wind from the subway, has sold for a staggering $4.6m (€3.2m).

Debbie Reynolds, the star of 'Singin' in the Rain', broke down in tears as her vast collection of Hollywood memorabilia was auctioned off. Ms Reynolds (79) collected movie props from films like 'Gone With the Wind' and 'Casablanca' over 50 years. But the auction marked the end of a dream after she was forced to sell the treasures to satisfy creditors.
