Lily Aldridge inspired by 'chic older women' in new clothing line
Lily Aldridge was inspired by "chic older women" while getting into fashion.
The Victoria's Secret Angel is teaming up with Los Angeles-based brand Velvet by Graham & Spencer for a second time. Items in her latest range include a sheer long-sleeved white top and a pale leopard print shirt.
Speaking about what she loves about the collection, Lily was also keen to share what helps her come up with designs.
"This is my second collection with Velvet, but I’ve been working with them for over ten years now. It's such a California line. The clothes are very easy and wearable. It’s exactly what I want to be wearing," she told Refinery29.
“Everything I designed for this collection is stuff I want to wear for spring. I get inspired by things I see on the streets or what my friends are wearing. I also love going uptown in New York and seeing chic older women - that doesn’t really go with this collection, but it’s great for inspiration in general.”
Lily was also influenced by living in Nashville, where she resides with her husband, Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill, and daughter Dixie.
“I fell in love with Nashville when I was introduced to it by my husband. It’s such a special place with a lot of heart and truly great style all its own - a unique mix of Bohemian charm and Southern elegance," she told The Thread.
"Every piece in this collection is effortlessly chic, easy-to wear and can be dressed up or down. That’s the way the modern girl dresses, so I really had her in mind when I was designing.”
