Lady Gaga’s ultra-risqué International Emmys dress was a mistake, says the designer.

The eccentric songstress arrived at the event in New York on Monday night in a daringly high-cut black gown that was close to exposing a lot more than she intended.

Many speculated that the piece was meant to fall that way because of Gaga’s fashion-forward nature, however a representative for the designer - Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture in France – has revealed that this was not the case.

According to TMZ, the floor-length frock was initially made for a catwalk model who is much taller than Gaga.

“The slit came way further up her waist than what our designers had in mind,” the representative revealed.

Despite the wardrobe malfunction, Stéphane Rolland was pleased with the way the dress looked. The brand insists Gaga’s natural flair for fashion pulled the bold look off.

“We’re not mad that the dress ended up looking like that on Gaga... she does make it a little naughtier!” the representative quipped.

Gaga posed on the red carpet in the eye-wateringly high cut dress teamed with black sunglasses.
