Karolina Kurkova: She Wears It Well
Supermodel Karolina Kurkova has the fashion week look wrapped up.
As so many leggy, glossy-haired, flawless-skinned types have demonstrated in the past, being a supermodel doesn't necessarily equal super stylishness.
But every nervous fashion week attendee could learn a thing or too from Czech model Karolina Kurkova's spot on showtime ensemble.
Spotted backstage at Michael Kors show, both her indoor and outdoor versions are understated and practical. OK, maybe four inch sandals are never 'practical', but she's wearing socks with them, which I just like, OK?
So, you've got one late-night's shopping before the London Fashion Week circus hits town tomorrow. Here are three things you can copy from Karolina's wardrobe on your way home.
1) A good trouser. (Refer to it in the plural and lose fashion points.) Unlike, say, Balenciaga horrors of seasons past, the current trousers are lovely to wear. Go for silky, draping fabrics in greys, beige/browns or greens and cuts that are roomy at the top and taper at the ankle. Whistles and Banana Republic will serve you well here.
2) A metallic something. Not everything that glisters is fashion gold but don't underestimate the power of a shiny-shiny accessory with neutrals, or a trim of metallic on wool. Don't over-do it, mind. You don't want to look like a Kardashian.
3) A BIG scarf. Quite simply the chunkier the knit, the more voluminous the scarf, the higher your status. Wear it as if you have laryngitis.
OK? All set? Thanks, Karolina. We owe you one.
