Spanish brand Desigual is being labelled 'the new Zara' by fashionistas.
Supermodel Irina Shayk took to the catwalk for their Spring/Summer '14 show in Barcelona, and they are pickiping up pace with ambitious expansions projects over the coming season.
They moved outside Europe three years ago and the venture has proved so successful, they intend to introduce quirky perfume and footwear to their apparel line.
Quirky is the right name as the brand has been known to give customers free items of clothing if they arrive in their undwerwear to special ins-tore parties.
Desigueal was founded in 1984 by Thomas Meyer and aims to have at least one item of clothing in every wardrobe.
The label is headed towards a $1bn turnover this year and will be focusing their efforts on countries which have responded particularly well.
“We want to focus on fewer countries but on penetrating more,” said Managing Director Manel Jadraque. “Asia is tough. They have different tastes from Europe but South America is doing well.”
“In the next three years we plan to grow about 20-25 percent a year. The big idea is to double the company every four years."
