Irish stylist Angela Scanlon tipped by Vogue to be 'the new Alexa Chung'
STYLIST and blogger Angela Scanlon has been tipped as one to watch for 2013 by Vogue website, who have dubbed her the new Alexa Chung.
The 28-year-old stylist who has presented slots on' Xpose' and 'Off the Rails', is tipped by Vogue to take the crown of British television presenter Alexa Chung.
Featuring the red head in their list of 20 names to know for the new year, the style bible says Angela is: “Known for her humour, directness and upbeat cheerfulness.”
Responding to making the coveted list, Angela told the Evening Herald: “I couldn't believe it when I heard. Even to be considered is amazing.”
Angela said being compared to style queen Alexa was a massive compliment, and that one day she would love to write for the iconic fashion magazine.
“That's always been a dream of mine – writing for Vogue,” she said. “Who knows what will happen but of course I'd love to write for them, any girl would.”
Angela wasn't the only Irish star to make the list.
Cavan band The Strypes and designer Dean Quinn were also cited as stars on the rise.
“It's great so many Paddys were on the list,” said Angela. “It's good to know we're representing.”
Angela, who previously worked for the Irish Independent, has been handpicked to take on hosting duties at next year’s London Fashion Week.
“Fashion week is mad, wonderfully mad,” the 28-year-old said.
“Everything is so frantic – models dashing about half dressed, emotional designers, overdressed bloggers everywhere, shows running late.
“It's completely nuts. So I can't wait to host. It'll be great craic.”
With demand for her being high in the UK, Angela is planning on getting her own place in London next year.
“It makes sense to have a base there. But work in Dublin is still busy so I won't be uprooting permanently yet.”
The stylist and blogger has been catching the eyes of TV execs in the UK, and is already the face of Yahoo's fashion channel.
Cat Deeley, fronts the US version and Angela has several high-profile projects in the pipeline.
Next year is shaping up to be a bit of a whirlwind for Angela but before it all kicks off, she will be ringing in the New Year in India.
“I head off on the 27th. It's my first proper, long holiday in years. I'm looking forward to turning off my phone and taking things easy.”
