Irish jewellery designers are ones to watch

Contemporary jewellery is all about refined design with an individual feel. Two emerging Irish designers to keep an eye out for are Louise Grenelle and Christina Brosnan.
Based in Dublin but raised in New Zealand, jewellery designer Louise Grenelle has just created her second Loulou Grenelle collection. Lose yourself in the fantasy of her hand-illustrated designs featuring tropical parrots, torrents of blossoming pansies and dainty butterflies. Each piece is finished in 24kt gold and is whisperingly lightweight, so even the decadent, oversize earrings can be worn everyday.
Following a career in film, Christina Brosnan set up her jewellery label in 2010 and recently received the Creative Island award at Showcase. Her collection is inspired by the African 'Dinka' tribe and uses polished bone, gold, silver and semi-precious gemstones. Many of her cuffs and necklaces bend and wind gently to fit the wearer; a detail that is exquisitely executed.
