Top model Sarah McGovern was the stylish star of the Irish Independent Weekend magazine’s ‘Day in the Life’ fashion shoot recently but no one suspected - as she morphed looks in eight different outfits - that she had good news to share.

“I was nine weeks pregnant when I did the shoot with Weekend magazine’s fashion editor Bairbre Power and photographer Emily Quinn. Now that I’m 12 weeks, I’m beginning to show and that’s far earlier than on my first pregnancy two years ago,” said Sarah.

Christmas will be exciting this year as Sarah and her husband Kenny Vaughan are expecting their second child in January. Their son Jude celebrates his second birthday in the middle of August.

“I’m showing much earlier this time and there were jokes that I could be expecting twins but after the 12 week scan, I know that it isn't twins,” said Sarah.

“I loved the clothes fashion editor Bairbre Power picked out for the Day in the Life shoot. I told her before the shoot that I was pregnant and she just worked around that and got a few styles in bigger sizes but, in the end, I didn’t need them.

“Gary Kavanagh styled my hair 60s style and after doing a few shots at the Style Club in South William Street, we drove to south Dublin to do the cover shot and then stopped for a leisurely lunch at the Union Square restaurant in Terenure where we sat outside in the sunshine for an hour. It was a lovely break and after that, we shot the last few images in Tesco in Maynooth.”

In addition to her modelling work for the Andrea Roche agency, Sarah has worked with glamorous jewellery brand Gemini and Miss Chic. She says she would “love” to do some modelling work for maternity brands over the coming months.
