Broadcaster Miriam has turned to the former Miss Universe Ireland (24) to dress her for the first episode of this year's summertime chat show, Saturday Night With Miriam.

The Prime Time presenter told the Herald she is impressed by sophisticated designs in the Tipperary model's Scribe by Roz suit collection.

"I'm going to be wearing one of Roz Purcell's trouser suits for the show," she said.

"It's a really nice black tux-style suit and I'm going to wear a gold top with it.

"They're really well cut and because I'm quite tall - I'm five-foot-10 - it fits very nicely."

The RTE star is the latest in a host of Irish personalities to step out in Roz's designs.

Actress Vivienne Connolly, model Sarah Morrissey and Xpose presenter Aisling O'Loughlin have all donned the beauty queen's tailored creations.

Miriam, who set tongues wagging earlier this year when she wore a choker on Prime Time, is known for her sharp sense of fashion

However, while her weekend talk show is more relaxed than her regular current affairs slot, she won't be changing her signature style for it.

"I try not to turn up as a completely different person, you're not going to see me wearing a ball gown," she said.

Guests lined up for tonight's show include Winning Streak presenters Marty Whelan and Sinead Kennedy, Irish soccer star Stephanie Roche and Irish tanning entrepreneur Marissa Carter.

British singer Tony Christie will be the guest performer.

Miriam said the show will open with a special tribute to the victims of this week's Berkeley tragedy, including an interview with former Eurovision winner Charlie McGettigan.

"Charlie's son Shane died when he was a young student in an accident in the States 17 years ago, so he's going to be coming on with the American ambassador Kevin O'Malley to talk about it," she said.

"We couldn't ignore it."
