How to wear shearling boots
Shearling boots are one of the key shoe stories for Autumn/Winter 2010. Heels, wedges and even clogs have been lined with the cosiest fabric to create a shoe that’s comfy as an Ugg but without the "Uggly".
You can thank Burberry for the injection of comfort into your shoe wardrobe but you don’t have to break the bank to get the look. This pair from Next are a great version of the original for €99. Wear with thick wool socks and dresses or skirts ala Burberry.
Alternatively team with skinny jeans and a chunky knit for ultimate Winter snug. If you’d prefer to avoid black, ASOS have these cool brown lace ups with a shearling turn, which touches on the hiking trend too. A steal at €72.79.
For those of you not prepared to sacrifice comfort, these suede wedges by Rocket at Schuh are perfect. Wedges are huge news for A/W so you’ll be bang on trend too. LK Bennett have produced my favourite pair to date - the perfect everyday boot. At €295 you’re getting comfort combined with design detail. Those rivets, the laces, wedge and shearling, plus the soft toffee tone will go with everything.
If a wedge is still not casual enough then Dune have a great pair of brown tarnished leather boots. With a vintage feel, these are boots that look like they’ve been worn and loved before. Ideal for the ‘great outdoors’ look which is set to be huge. Just add layers.
If, however you are approached by any sales assistant willing you try on the new, “cool”, shearling clog hybrid by the aforementioned Ugg, step away. Quickly.
