Holly White combed the high street to find her favourite lace pieces to suit every budget.

Lace rocks this season, from cheeky, see-through blouses to sexy, sheer dresses and dramatic, floor-sweeping gowns.

Miu Miu opted for lilac lace. Dolce & Gabbana delivered gothic black , but Valentino hogged the limelight with sheer chantilly lace.

Look 1

This was my favourite look because it is graceful and discreet, yet it felt incredibly sexy on.

It reminds me of a collection of dresses that Pearl Lowe designed, which were modelled by her daughter, Daisy.

With my dark hair and the naughty school-girl shoes, I felt a little like a goth, but the cream headband lightened it all up.

Look 2

This is what I’d wear if I was getting married in the 1960s.

It’s a lovely light dress with a high neckline and long sleeves.

In the winter, match this with black tights and a little black blazer, but for now, bare legs are a must.

Look 3

I love the strong contrast of the black detail against the delicate silk in this lace dress.

To get a rock-chic aesthetic, team the delicate dress with a leather biker jacket. That takes the girlie edge off.

This is a look that could take you anywhere — provided you have a little bit of attitude to back it up!

Look 4

This dress is one of those Penneys treasures. I am sick of clothes that are too floaty and baggy, but an exception had to be made for this wonderful silky creation.

This mac works really well with the dress. It’s practical and creates shape.

Add some expensive vertiginous shoes for a Carrie Bradshaw look.

Look 5

This is a casual piece ideal for day-to-day wear. I love these French Connection jeans.

The lace detail on the top is right on trend, but discreetly so. If you buy only one outfit, go for this one.
