Holly White road-tests... Cargo pants
If you are in any doubt about the season's hottest trend just check out the latest edition of Vogue, which features the millionaire founder of net-a-porter.com, Natalie Massenet, in a pair of J Brand cargo pants.
Apparently, she deems them the hit of the season and reveals that all her staff have bought them too.
They are obviously very popular here too as BT2 has sold out, but I am told they will be stocking more for autumn/winter.
Mind you, I don't really want to start thinking about my winter wardrobe just yet but, at the rate these trousers are disappearing, I thought I had better get my skates on.
Cargo pants are tricky, and it is difficult to find a pair that fit and also look well. But Topshop, as always, came up trumps. Their cargo pants were a good colour and reasonably priced. Whistles had a nice pair, too.
After I had finished road-testing the pants, I took a glance at the shots taken by photographer Ronan Lang. I looked like a tubby version of myself. "They wouldn't be the most flattering of pants," Ronan agreed as I squirmed.
Immediately after, I met my man for lunch, and as we were leaving the restaurant -- ever polite -- he held the door open for me.
"You go ahead," I smiled nervously, pretending to fidget with my phone, but the truth was that I didn't want him to see me from behind. He walked ahead mildly confused.
I love these trousers but, buyer beware, only the fittest will survive them.
