Helena Christensen only thought she'd last a month when she started modelling.

The star was crowned Miss Denmark in 1986 and soon after, she left her home country to pursue a modelling career in Paris. The 44-year-old star is astounded when she thinks about how long ago she decided to try to break into fashion.

"Modelling is a silly, crazy business. I tried it when I was 20, and I think I gave myself about a month," she told Esquire magazine, before being asked if her lengthy career is testament to her talent.

"Yeah, maybe. Or maybe I’ve just had a very long month!"

Helena has graced the covers of many of the biggest fashion magazines around, including Vogue, W and Elle. She's also worked with some of the most iconic labels and companies in the world, such as Revlon, Versace, Prada and Lanvin.

An accomplished photographer, Helena is now looking for other ways to flex her artistic muscles. She has created an underwear like with Triumph and also features in its advertising campaign. She researched how lingerie is made before embarking on the project and believes she has come up with designs which are both pretty and wearable.

"It’s all about accentuating beautiful parts of a woman’s body. I love playing around with vintage fabrics and lace."
