A lady can often be accused of wearing her heart on her sleeve, but the latest trend will see women across the globe putting their hearts on their feet instead. This season’s heart-themed shoe trend is the best way to show your betrothed how loved-up you’re feeling, as well as earning you plenty of style brownie points.

At the Spring/Summer 2011 shows designer Agatha Ruiz de la Prada demonstrated her trademark kooky aesthetic with a series of adorable heart-themed shoes. Some of the chunky heels were actually heart shaped, while other pairs featured cute heart cut outs and heart peep-toes. Vivienne Westwood also favours heart-shaped shoes, as do Alexander McQueen and YSL.

Not all styles incorporate towering stilettos either, so if you aren’t accustomed to tottering in heels there are a host of pumps and sandals available with heart motifs and strap detailing.

Most styles naturally come in pink and red, and the general rule is that colours are bright. For this reason, it’s probably best to team your romantic footwear with a simple outfit in neutral tones. In doing so, you will simply draw more attention to your show-stopping feet.

Another tip is to team heart-themed shoes with long socks or cute ankle ones as this will add a schoolgirl vibe, really enhancing the feminine aspect of this trend.

You may not want to wear this type of shoe to the office, as it’s more of a party style. Also avoid donning your heart-shaped shoes on a first date as you may scare off potential suitors.
