Get the look: Laura Whitmore
Going grown-up and glamorous is the only way to eke anything further out of the boho trend.
So it's time to ditch the cutesy, button-down A-line mini skirts in denim or suede. Laura Whitmore's wide pants, slouchy bag, and circular glasses are all 1970s, but with her biker jacket, high heels and simple black top, she looks positively Kate Hudson-ish. And Hudson is, of course, the queen of grown-up boho.
I'm going to a wedding over Christmas and, rather than a dress, I want to wear a suit. The more male-tailoring-inspired the better, and ideally in navy, black or grey, please.
Reply: The Kooples in Brown Thomas, and The Kooples Sport - its slightly cheaper diffusion line, which is in BT2 - should be your first port of call. The main line and the diffusion line do beautiful suits, which are cut as well as much more expensive labels. At the moment, we particularly like The Kooples navy one-button suit with leather-and-suede collar detail; the jacket is €395; the trousers, €195. We thought we'd reached peak boyfriend-blazer, but Topshop has a really beautiful suit at the moment; the jacket, €80, is a loose cut and described as boyfriend. It comes in a woven fabric with a subtle black-on-grey check, and looks much more expensive than its price (the trousers are €55).
