Geansaí gets a designer touch for RDS show

There's nothing woolly about the business intentions of the Showcase creative expo, which takes place at Dublin's RDS from January 24-27.

International buyers from 20 countries will view the work and can place orders with 450 Irish designers, manufacturers and craftspeople working in fashion, jewellery, home and giftware.

This year sees the introduction of The Knitwear Project featuring innovative pieces from emerging and leading Irish designers and manufacturers, including Grainne Walley and Colin Burke, both final-year students at NCAD, whose modern knitwear is photographed above.

And in an exciting development, former Paris couturier Peter O'Brien from Dublin has teamed with up with Donegal's Fisherman Out of Ireland to design jumpers for men and women. Meanwhile, twice Oscar-nominated animation studio, Cartoon Saloon, is working with Cork knitwear company, Beacon Designs.
