Q I'm looking for a 1920s flapper-style dress for my Christmas party. Where can I find some good styles?
A The famous Sixties label Biba was re-launched in the House of Fraser this winter. It was always influenced by the Twenties and the new collection pays homage to its roots with heavy beaded Twenties-style dresses and vintage-inspired bronze-sequined capes -- great for throwing over a party dress to give it some vintage edge.
A wear also has some great flapper-inspired dresses from €60 in purple or dark green with beading and an escalloped hem. Warehouse gets my vote with its stunning embroidered cap-sleeved flapper dress with a beaded fringed hemline.
This piece has a lot of expensive-looking detail and looks more like a designer piece than a high-street buy.
Oasis has re-interpreted the flapper dress using silk tassels and lace panels instead of beading, to create a pretty pale pink sleeveless style. Noa Noa is the place to go for vintage looking jewellery and headpieces -- perfect for finishing off your party look.
