Fashion squad delight in Turkish designer's glitz
The ladies-who-lunch and the mothers-of-the-bride who want to knock the new in-laws for 10 have a new man in their sights – 32-year-old designer Umit Kutluk.
Lucky guests who gathered for Kutluk's memorable fashion show on Wednesday night were left in no doubt – this Turkish-born, Dublin-based designer is on his way to the top and the big question on everyone's mouths was: who's going to get their hands on that €2,600 black peacock-feathered, peplum gown first?
It was pure haute couture and guests enjoying the fashionable eye candy included the Turkish ambassador Necip Eguz and his wife Senay.
Mary Robinson's former presidential election campaign offices at 27 Merrion Square are now home to Umit's grand salon and showrooms. Michael Leong did the '20s style hair and Catherine Condell styled models who wowed the audience each time they stepped out across the herringbone parquet flooring with amazing Appassionata flowers in the background.
The fashion squad were out including fellow couturier Peter O'Brien and former models Sharon Bacon, Mari O'Leary and Cha Cha Bland (née Seigne). Titian-haired model-turned-PR Sonia Reynolds had her working hat on, helped by her flame-haired pal, former model Frances Duff.
Guests sipped champagne courtesy of Caroline Sleiman and the front row included Celia Holman Lee, Brendan Courtney, Ashling Kilduff, Helen Kilmartin of Minima, Clare Campbell, Ruth Forsythe, Lorna Brittain and German Collins.
