While fashionistas in the UK brace themelves for and influx of cut-price fashion, Irish women will have to wait.

Discount retailer Lidl is gearing up to launch their women's fashion range in the UK next week, which boasts a €20 leather jacket.

It is expected to rival Tesco and ASDA in the cut-price department store style.

The brand currently currently sells basic garments including childrenswear and some outerwear, but have pulled out all the stops for their most comprehensive fashion line ever.

A menswear collection will launch in November.

However, there are no plans for a similar line to be rolled out in Ireland.

A Lidl spokesperson told Independent.ie: "At present we don't have any plans to introduce the new fashion range to stores in Ireland or Northern Ireland."

Meanwhile, a UK spokesperson spoke of their excitement at Lidl branching into fashion.

"This is the first time ever that we've done such a high-end fashion promotion and we're hugely excited about launching these lines on 25th August. Not only are these jackets bang on trend for this season but they're also £15 a pop, which is unbeatable value for such high quality," they said.
