Teenage girl led Dublin attack on model Thalia Heffernan
A teenage girl led a vicious mugging against model Thalia Heffernan.
The top model revealed yesterday she was "still shaking" after she was viciously mugged in Dublin city centre - just hours before she had to take to the catwalk.
The 20-year-old model with Morgan the Agency put on a brave face as she showcased the new season styles from Brown Thomas' Autumn/Winter '15 collection and wrote a detailed Facebook post slamming the youths responsible yesterday afternoon.
Heffernan says she was walking to her early morning call time after 4am yesterday when she says she was attacked and robbed.
"To the horrible girl who hit me in the face and robbed my bag this morning, to the guy who helped her, and to their theiving [sic] little friends for watching, my sincerest f**k you," she wrote.
"No older than around 18, this young girl hit me three or more times in the face, elbowed and shoved me in an attempt to pull my backpack off my arm, while another young guy came behind me and grabbed the other side. Nearly pulling my jumper and arms with them, they ran away with everything I had."
She's a noted fitness fanatic and said that the worst part of her experience was her inability to defend herself.
"What's worse is that there was nothing I could do to even attempt to defend myself, despite screaming and crying after them," she added. "I knew if I tried to fight back that it would end badly, and maybe even with me in hospital.
"Even now, a number of hours later, I'm still shaking writing this.. No matter how hard you train or how well your capable of fighting your corner, young kids in gangs like this can render you completely useless.
"They're ruthless and will do anything to get what they want. I don't understand how anyone could ever even consider doing that to another person. I hope I can help the gardai in identifying at least some of them, and eventually have them all pay for what they've done not only to me but countless others."
Thalia walked yesterday morning's show at 8:30am and was the consummate professional as no one in attendance knew she had been the victim of a mugging prior to the show.
Gardai have confirmed to Independent.ie that they are investigating a robbery at Mercer Street at 4:20am this morning, but do not comment on specific cases.
