Style guru Darren Kennedy has given Jack Reynor’s red-carpet look the thumbs-down.

The Irish actor jetted into Hong Kong this week for the world premiere of Transformers: Age of Extinction, where he was given a rapturous reception from fans.

But it was his unusual speckled wool suit - worn in temperatures of 31 degrees - that set tongues wagging and divided opinion among many fashionistas.

TV presenter and stylist Darren revealed that while he liked the suit itself, he would have paired it with a different shirt.

“I don’t think the shirt does the suit or Jack any favours. I would have gone for a crisp white shirt or a gingham shirt or a contrasting tie, something with a pop of colour. I would never put a dark suit with a dark shirt.

“I always think it’s best to keep the shade of your shirt lighter than your suit, it keeps the look more classic.”

He added how the speckled fleck brings a nice texture to his look and his suit was very on-trend for next season.

“It’s got a slim lapel and single button as he’s keeping it quite contemporary as that whole cut would be very in. It could be Dior or Vivienne Westwood,” he continued.

One young man with a massive future ahead, the Wicklow actor was joined by A-lister Mark Wahlberg at the prestigious event alongside his co-star Nicola Peltz and Transformer director Michael Bay.

Also there was his Limerick-born fiancée Madeline Mulqueen, for the first of 11 international premieres they will be attending over the coming weeks as part of a global promotional tour.

She has vowed to wear Irish to all the red-carpet events. The model has had a number of gowns made especially for her by such prestigious designers as Joanne Hynes and Natalie B Coleman, and was looking especially glam for last night’s event.

The red carpet will be rolled out at the Savoy cinema on July 3 with massive crowds expected to cheer Jack on. The invite-only premiere will be MC-ed by MTV presenter Laura Whitmore with many of our best-known celebs expected to attend.
