The Aussie catwalk queen, who is fast emerging as one of fashion's most recognisable faces, posted a nude photo on Instagram in protest of coal mining alongside Queensland's coastline.

The 25-year-old posted the image, with the words 'Stop Coal Mining' written on her stomach in red lipstick.

''Coal is soon going to be a dead commodity only bought buy [sic] irresponsible countries who do not care about climate change and the damage on the world. I’m shocked and feel powerless so I decided to get people to read this one way or another, we have to stop them.....before its too late,'' she said.

The activist's post reached nearly 2,000 likes on the social networking site.

And she explained her approach as a way to shock people into paying attention to the environmental situation.

"I'm shocked and feel powerless so I decided to get people to read this one way or another, we have to stop them.....before its too late."

She has also changed her bio on Instagram to read: 'We won't have a society if we destroy our environment- Margaret Mead."

On Monday, Australia's Federal Environment Minister Greg Hunt approved the Carmichael coalmine project which will introduce a 60 million tonne per year streaming coalmine.

Robyn recently hit headlines for all the right reasons when she posted a makeup free, non-airburshed lingerie photo of herself on Instagram.
