Motherhood proves to be inspiration for Simone Rocha as she debuts latest collection at London Fashion Week
Motherhood has been exceedingly good, dare I say productive, for Simone Rocha.
Her daughter, Valentine, was born last November and with time off, the 29-year old saw things with a new eye.
There were show had us at Hallo! because Simone she opened her AW16 collection with a hugely covetable story of tailored tulles and tinsel tweeds.
Undoubtedly, there were added pressures on Simone coming back from maternity leave because her previous collection, the SS16 range landing into stores including Havana in Donnybrook, was widely trumpeted as her 'best ever.'
Her response was to knock it out of the ballpark- well, the grand hall of one of London's finest mansions actually. She sent out a powerful retinue of 41 models with looks that catered for all eventuality, from the gothic fan who likes sheer and has a passion for pink and red dresses to the lover of ethereal, unstructured layers.
And then there's the tweed aficionado who wants her metallic flecked suit modern and sassy ... and with a matching vanity bag and shoes too please.
Captivated, we scoured the models as they passed through the gilded splendour of Lancaster House wearing adorned fabrics and layered silhouettes.
Glistening, knobbly tweeds worn with deep pocketed, gold embroidered tulle and this look was finished off in masterly fashion with studded gold brogues, perspex heels and silver shoes with intriguing bevelled crystal heels.
Simone knows her designer agenda. She knows her woman and increasingly, her woman is an international shopper who has discovered the talents of the young Dubliner creating magic in London.
