Kate Middleton has striking new look after turning to Princess Diana's hat maker
All eyes were on Kate Middleton today as she looked effortlessly elegant in an Erdem coat and a wide-brimmed hat by John Boyd.
Mr Boyd, 90, was one of Diana, Princess of Wales's favourite milliners, but is not thought to have designed a hat for the Duchess of Cambridge before.
Kate arrived for an annual Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey with her husband William and Prince Harry, as they accompanied the Queen, Prince Philip and other members of the Royal family.
After the service, Kate, whose Erdem coat retails at £2,500, (€3,220) told schoolchildren waiting outside the Abbey that Prince George goes "super fast" on his scooter and it is hard to keep up with him.
Mr Boyd has made hats for three generations of the Royal family, and was chosen by Princess Diana to design the hat for her "going away" outfit as she set off on honeymoon with the Prince of Wales. The tricorn hat he created was copied the world over and became one of the most popular styles of the 1980s.
