Is this the most daring dress to come out of Dublin Fashion Festival?

An attention-grabbing, slash-front 'Nikki' dress stole the show at Helen McAlinden's AW16 showcase on day two of the Dublin Fashion Festival.
But then, the canny designer knew that it would. McAlinden made this very dress - with its dramatic double-circular skirt with two layers of sumptuous silk jersey - in ivory for a bride getting married in Australia in July.
"I knew when I saw it that it would make the most perfect end- of-show dress and the reaction has been amazing," she said.
At €750, it was one of the more expensive pieces in the show, while a luxurious chocolate shearling topped the price counter at €1,100.
However, there were less expensive luxury pieces in the thoroughly modern collection, such as a black leather skirt (€295) worn with a tiger print, faux fur raglan jacket (€450), both available at her South William Street store and at Arnotts and House of Fraser.
For sheer impact, it was hard to beat the Schiaparelli pink bouclé pieces, including a coat (€395) and a side tab dress (€285).
