'If in doubt, work out' - Is the latest fitness range from Penneys as tough as it looks?

'If in doubt, work out' is stamped on a pair of luminous pink exercise knickers that landed on my desk this morning.
And immediately, of course, I was intrigued.
The dare-to-wear pants are part of the new perfomance wear from Primark that seems set on banishing the winter blues with colour alone.
With tie dye prints and mesh overlays that wouldn't look out of place in Eric Prydz' Call on Me music video, other motivation phrases including ‘Start with believe’ and ‘Gym hair don’t care’ initially scared the bejaysus out of me.
But "embracing a new you" is theme at the launch of the SS16 performance wear, so I sucked it up (and in) as I went to try on a couple of outfits. What better way to inspire some aerobic exercise after my shift, right?
And with crop tops from €4 and runners a mere €14, and January pay check still a million light years away, I ignored my initial reticence and got the togs on.
I'm not saying the staple black and monochrome pieces as an training outfit contributor wasn't welcome, but I was really pleasantly surprised with how the 'scarier' items looked when I put them on.
I didn't look like an erotic Amazon-like 80s throwback for one thing. In fact, every single item I put on felt comfortable and stayed in the right place - every after a few squats and jumps for good measure.
There are crop tops for those who like to maintain a more healthy (ahem) diet than myself, but for the gym, a bit of weight lifting, or a long mountain walk at the weekend - there really is something for everyone. And I'm a big fan of the hidden pockets in the leggings and jacket.
The durability of the new range is not something I can realistically comment on quite yet, but I do have a couple of sports bras from an older season that has kept colour shape and hold for almost a year. Bargain!
What's on offer
For outer wear, leggings, vests, t-shirts, light-weight performance jackets and runners are up for grabs at teeny tiny (relative to some sports stores) prices.
New season workout bras, crop tops and vests are also available to snap up - not to mention dumbbells, yoga mats, jump ropes and gym balls for those home workout sessions in front of Netflix...
