Football fever has spread beyond the pitches to the fashion wardrobes... and the proof is in online shopping.

Style-savvy shoppers are being inspired by the soccer spectacle and opting for Brazilian-style trends for their shopping basket.

Online retailer eBay has reported a surge in sales related to the World Cup, with women’s fashion pieces taking top spot alongside football jerseys.

Ombre patterns and tie-dyed garments that define Brazilian style have topped the trends in the weeks coming up to the World Cup, with 60,000 ombre pieces and more than 18,000 pairs of tie-dyed pants sold on the website.

The data was gathered from thirteen countries worldwide including US, Canada, UK, Australia, Austria, Brazil, France, Spain, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico and Russia.

Online shoppers are also taking note of local Brazilian labels and clicking on the likes of Calavera and Osklen, now the two most coveted Brazilian brands on eBay.

Not long more before they're taking centre-stage on the fashion pages...
