Among the designers showing were architect-turned-milliner Aisling Ahern, who transferred the drama from head to shoulders.

David O'Malley, who is currently studying in Antwerp, impressed with a series of seriously luxe, layered silhouettes.

The CIFD are organising the first ever Irish Fashion Summit at Farmleigh on November 14 and the inaugural event is being supported by Peter Mark and ID2015.

Eddie Shanahan, chairman of the CIFD, said the summit will look at challenges in developing and managing a design business and improvements in fashion education.

It will hear from seasoned operators on the importance of building strong brands and there will be presentations from Irish and international speakers. Seat numbers at the free event are limited.

The full programme and a registration link is available at irishfashionsummit.com.
