End of an era - Doutzen Kroes and Karlie Kloss hanging up their Victoria’s Secret Angel wings
Doutzen Kroes and Karlie Kloss, two of the Victoria’s Secret’s most high profile models, will not be returning, the brand has confirmed.
Ed Razek, senior creative director for the lingerie conglomerate, has revealed that Karlie will be leaving the brand when her contract runs out later this year.
Karlie has made the decision to leave the brand for the time being as she hopes to pursue her college education.
“Karlie and I met several months ago to discuss the many things she hoped to do in her life and career. As we talked, it became clear she would not have the time to fulfill her myriad commitments,” Razek posted on his Instagram account.
“Reluctantly, we agreed she would leave the brand at the end of her contract…Karlie Kloss will always be an Angel to me,” he poignantly stated
Ed added that Karlie, who hails from the Midwest, is “one of a kind, a very close friend and someone I truly admire and love….without question, one of the best models ever.”
The graceful 6’1” stunner has been with the brand since 2011. The 22-year-old recently told Vogue that she will be enrolling in New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study this autumn.
Also moving on from the brand that catapulted her to international fame is Dutch beauty Doutzen Kroes (30).
The mum-of-two quietly exited her contract in December 2014, Ed has confirmed.
“Doutzen had a lucrative opportunity in Europe and it would have conflicted with her VS obligations,” he said.
“So, at her agencies (sic) request, we released her from contract. There was no conflict. No animosity. None of the nonsense I've read on Instagram. She had a great business opportunity, and I wanted to be fair to someone I adore and respect.”
“I honestly believe Doutzen is one of the most stunningly beautiful people in the world. And I always will,” he concluded.
