It has remained a cultural backdrop here for centuries, and now millions more are set to appreciate the iconic Dublin landmark.
Some of the world's top models turned out at Dollymount Strand in north Dublin to film the latest advertisement for renowned fashion label Emporio Armani.
The chimneys at Poolbeg generating station towered triumphantly in the background as the models, kitted out in the label's latest lines, strutted their stuff along the wet and windy beach.
Irish photographer Boo George was assisted by the Irish Film Board in filming at the location, described by the label as "striking" and the perfect accompaniment to the "subtle colours and textures" of Emporio Armani's autumn and winter campaign.
The Film Dublin Partnership also aided with the label's production, securing permits and access to Dollymount Strand during filming.
The partnership was developed to ensure Dublin remains an attractive base for film and television production.
The network provides an opportunity for consultation, coordination and communication on complex film and television projects that are in need of multiple agency assistance.
