Designer style at prices easy on your wallet
There was quite a bit of eye rubbing at the Arnotts SS17 new season show in the Henry Street store yesterday when the embroidered floral dress with definite designer cachet turned out to be a €85 gem from Miss Selfridge.
The heavily beaded white and black jumpsuit, ideal for summer special occasions and weddings, carried an equally eye-watering price tag of €105, also from Miss Selfridge.
However, when the audience applauded the catwalk show closer - a black mesh gown covered with lavish, richly embroidered roses - it wasn't a Dolce & Gabbana designer dress as some might have suspected, but a wallet-pleasing €399 dress from Danish brand Ganni.
Post-show conversations centred on the pleasure of discovering new brands to love like Three Floors and its salmon pleated lace dress was a sophisticated, special occasion gem at €315.
Ganni stole the show yesterday with a green embroidered top (€419) and trousers (€549), and navy beaded dress (€399).
French label Tara Jarmon delivered sleek, chic dressing, with a stand out navy cropped jacket with black, heavily beaded sleeves (€610) and her one-shouldered blue striped cotton dress (€310) made the January audience wish summer to come faster.
Valerie O'Neill, Arnotts womenswear and menswear buying director, said that shoppers can look forward to bright colours this year.
"Spring/Summer 2017 is all about having fun with your wardrobe. This season's catwalks had a playful mood and this continues onto the shop floor from bright pops of colour to explosions of prints and reworked classics with feminine flirty details," she said.
"While our range of brands continues to expand, we are still seeing growth and demand for our existing Irish and international brands."
Irish labels include Caroline Kilkenny, Aideen Bodkin, Niamh O'Neill and Roisin O'Neill.
