It was a throwback to times past at the Autumn/Winter 2014 fashion show at Brown Thomas.
As one of the key events on the Irish fashion calendar, top models took to the customised catwalk for an invite only event, attended by the country’s most influential journalists, editors and stylists.
Brown Thomas Fashion Director Shelly Corkery hosted the event, sharing her insider knowledge as the premier fashion buyer in Ireland.
Here are five of the must-wear trends for the coming season:
1. Outerwear is Essential
From capes and blanket coats to balloon parkas and faux furs, every style of outerwear is in this season."The investment piece for the season is a beautiful piece of outerwear - there are so many to choose from," says Fashion Director Shelly Corkery. "We bought heavily into outerwear and luxe knitwear in nearly every collection.

2. Tales of the Orient
Victoria Beckham and Marni are among the champions of the Japanese inspired collections with origami pleats featuring heavily and also marking the return of the OBI belt.

Zips and chains are a strong feature of the autumn/winter landscape, seen across accessories and garments. "The metal work hints of hardware without taking the garment too far away from femininity."
4. Swinging '60s
Welcome to the sixties! From dusty pastel palettes to retro dresses and animal prints, pieces from Gucci and Valentino help bring new life into the shift dresses synonymous with the era.
5. Romantic Prints
Expect a throwback to the vintage era across decades - from the romanticised imagining of the '30s to romantic layers and light textures.
