River Island has launched its first ever plus size clothing line
River Island has given shoppers a very good reason to get excited as the high street favourite makes its first foray into plus size clothing.
There's been a recent shift in attitude to dress size in the fashion world.
In the past few weeks, celebrity designer Rachel Roy expanded her size range to include a "Curvy" line; model Ashley Graham landed the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine's swimsuit issue and fashion brands H&M, Sophie Thealleat and Chromat all featured models of all sizes in the fashion week runway shows.
And now River Island is launching its own size-inclusive range for Spring Summer 16.
The collection goes on sale today when a variety of key pieces from the brand's line will be released in sizes 18-24 across all River Island stores.
The line will initially feature 75 pieces from jeans to office wear, to party dresses and more. And there is hardly any black in sight - this collection is filled with seriously stylish trends and colours that speak to the season.
"We're excited about giving great fashion to more women," Marketing Director Josie Roscop said.
"We feel this is the right time for the brand to expand our size range offering.
"Ultimately, it's about fashion and being inclusive."
The brand turned to the in-demand plus-size model Candice Huffine to front their latest campaign.
“The fact that River Island is extending their sizing while staying true to their brand is perfection”, explains Huffine.
“It’s clear they have thought about a curvy woman’s body and designed accordingly while giving her exactly what can be found on the high street at any other size. A plus size collection doesn’t need to be made totally different, it just needs to be made to fit”.
